The USITC has determined that “the US xanthan gum industry is neither threatened by material injury nor materially injured by the imports of xanthan gum from Austria.”
The USITC should be making the final ruling on or before July 12, 2013, regarding a duty on xanthan gum coming from China and Austria.
Due to the US anti-dumping tariff placed on Xanthan Gum imports coming from China and Austria, CP Kelco, a US manufacturer of Xanthan Gum, is expanding its San Diego facility by roughly 40%.

By now you have probably heard about the ITC anti-dumping investigations against imports of xanthan gum from China and Austria, who allegedly sold xanthan gum in the US at less than fair value. These investigations will continue, and the preliminary determination is due in mid-November 2012.
Because of these investigations and the impending anti-dumping tariff on xanthan gum, our lab is developing a xanthan gum replacement, which will be catered to each customer individually.
